Abstract
The spectral functions of Luttinger liquids clearly display the main features distinguishing 1D and 3D models of correlated fermions: non-universal power-law divergences in correlation functions and charge-spin separation. We discuss the absence of spectral weight at the Fermi edge observed in recent photoemission experiments and show that the Luttinger liquid phenomenology applies to the Bechgaard salts (TMTSF)2PF6 but that a “spin-paired Luttinger liquid” may be more appropriate to the CDW materials.
