Abstract :
We demonstrate the generation of triplet-state photoexcitations in poly(3-alkylthiophene) (P3AT) solutions using photoinduced absorption (PIA) spectroscopy. In solution, the triplet state is effectively quenched in a triplet-triplet energy transfer reaction with C60 and in an electron transfer reaction with TCNE. The triplet energy of P3AT is found to be 1.56–1.72 eV above the ground state.
