Transmission electron microscopy studies of selected LixC60 and NaxC60 phases

Electrochemical intercalation of Li+ and Na+ into fullerene C60 has been achieved in solid state cells operating with a polyethylene oxide based electrolyte. Microscopic electron diffraction studies have been carried out on the low doped Li0.5C60 and Na0.5C60 phases and also on the Na6C60 compound. The corresponding cell parameters, indexed in a f.c.c system, are respectively equal to 1405, 1405 and 1434 pm.
