Structural, electronic and magnetic properties as a function of bandfilling in the superconducting system Li1−xMgxTi2O4

The results of superconducting and normal state magnetic susceptibility, resistivity and X-ray diffraction (XRD) in the above system are described. Tc decreases with x, but the temperature independent paramagnetism increases. Little difference is observed in the temperature dependence of the resistivity as the 3d band is filled. XRD refinement suggests a small but increasing amount of Mg in the Ti (16d) sites with increasing x.
