Abstract :
The series of compounds (BI-III) containing a NLO chromophore, bearing a barbituric acid unit as molecular receptor; and their complementary substrate — melamine derivatives (MI-II), have been synthesized. BI-III have been found to display efficient optical second harmonic generation.
