Abstract
Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) and Grazing Angle Incidence (GIR) spectroscopic techniques are used for the structural investigation of Langmuir-Blodgett films resulting from the mixture of different relative concentrations of chemically synthesized poly-3-hexadecylthiophene (PHDT) and behenic acid. Due to the low hydrophilicity of the thiophene ring, the inclusion of fatty acid molecules is required to stabilize the Langmuir film formed in the air-water interface. This film can then be transferred on sucessive down strokes of a vertically dipped substrate to form head-to-tail structures.
