Abstract :
Polyaniline-p-styrenesulfonic acid (PANI-p-SSA) composites were synthesized by electrochemical oxidation of polyaniline in the p-styrenesulfonic acid aqueous solutions. p-Styrenesulfonic acid was incorporated in the polyaniline matrix as a dopant anion. PANI-p-SSA composite film (polymer-monomer composite) was converted to polyaniline-poly(p-styrenesulfonic acid) (PANI-PSSA, polymer-polymer) composite film by the post-polymerization process. A PANI-p-SSA film was soaked in benzoyl peroxide-CCl4 solution and the film was heated at 60 °C for 12 h under Ar atmosphere for post-polymerization. The film shrank about 17% after post-polymerization. The PANI-PSSA composite showed the ability of cation doping in organic electrolyte solution.
