Abstract
Dinaphtho-18-crown-6 exhibits capability to be anodically polymerized. A polymer structure formed in this way is proposed and could correspond to linkage of naphthalene moieties with parts of the chain corresponding to an electronic conducting polymer and others to a redox-type polymer. Moreover, arguments concerning anodic bonding between naphthalene groups (formation and characterization of dimers for low current consumption) are developed by taking into account some 2,3-dialkoxynaphthalenes and relevant crown ethers oxidized under similar experimental conditions.
