Abstract
3-(p-trimethylammoniumphenyl)bithiophene was synthesized. The corresponding polymer was made by electropolymerization and characterized using cyclic voltammetry, spectroelectrochemistry and the quartz crystal microbalance. The polymer underwent both p- and n-doping and exhibited distinct color changes upon doping. The quartz crystal microbalance showed that anions are primarily involved in the doping process.
