Exact Calculations of the Optical Absorption of poly(p-phenylene)

The optical absorption of short poly(p-phenylene) (PPP) polymers is investigated, within a recently proposed model of the phenyl — based semiconductors, via exact diagonalisations of finite size chains with periodic boundary conditions. The relevant dynamical correlations and exciton correlation functions for the system are also calculated.
