Selective electrodeposition of conducting polymers

Selective electrodeposition of polypyrrole using a STM tip as the counter electrode has been examined to establish an ultra fine processing. The electrodeposition is performed on a highly oriented pyrolytic graphite coated with the ionically conducting polymer of Nafion consisting of monomer and electrolyte. Spots of conducting polymers less than hundreds nm, which depends on the polarity of deposition voltages, are observed by STM image.
