Abstract
Optical studies, in a wide sense, are one of the most powerful techniques for studying the electronic properties of solids. We discuss investigations of the electro dynamic response in the two-dimensional organic conductors of the BEDT-TTF family, which become superconducting at around 10 K. In the normal state, the frequency dependent conductivity is that of a correlated metal with significant deviations from the simple Drude model. The electrodynamical properties of the superconducting state are those of an anisotropic BCS superconductor with no indications of unconventional pairing.
