Abstract :
The crystal structure and the magnetism of iodine-doped mixed crystals of Ni-and Zn-phthalocyanines (Ni1−yZny Pc-Ix) have been studied. A large structural disorder is found in the phthalocyanine(Pc) stacks along the c direction, i.e. the chain direction, in which the c-coordinates of the Pc rings distribute by ±0.97 A for y=0 and by ±0.84 A for y=0.3 around their average positions. The system exhibits the Pauli-paramagnetism, indicating that the spins are itinerant. In comparison with the previous results for halogen-doped fluoro-aluminum phthalocyanine(AlPcF), no correlation exists between the degree of the disorder and the localization.
