Abstract :
The magnetic molecular semiconductor (BEDT-TTF)3CuBr4 exhibits a phase transition at 60K accompanied by an abrupt fall in magnetic susceptibility and also shows a transition to a metallic state at 5kbar. The temperature dependence of the crystal structure (10–298K) reveals a change in the charge distribution on the cation while the variation of the structure with the pressure (0–16kbar) shows that the intermolecular empty spaces are strongly reduced.
