Synthesis, characterization and electrical conductivity of polyesters, polyamides and doped polymers

The synthesis and characterization of polyamides and polyesters containing azomethyne linkages are reported here. The electrical conductivity of the polymers is measured and the results explained with simple Pariser-Parr-Pople calculations. The polymers are doped with Ag and the electrical conductivity of each polymer is found to register a significant increase. Attempts are made to explain this increase.
