Abstract
We have synthesized polyacetylene ultra-thin films with thickness of 500 ~ 1000 Å order. The films were synthesized using highly concentrated catalyst of Ti(O-n-Bu)4-Et3Al with thin layer. Activation energy (Ea) of acetylene polymerization under low initial pressure was estimated about 7.7 kJ/mole. Diameters of fibrils were substantially finer than those of standard polyacetylenes. This situation resulted in unexpected reduction of in-plane alignment of fibrils. The electrical conductivity (σ ≈ 103 S/cm) after iodine doping was lower than the predicted value (σ > 104 S/cm).
