Synthesis and electrorheological behavior of semiconducting poly(aniline-CO-O-ethoxy aniline)

Poly (aniline-co-o-ethoxyaniline) as one of many conducting polymers was synthesized by chemical oxidation polymerization of aniline and o-ethoxyaniline monomer with different molar ratios in an acidic media. By using FT-IR. TGA, SEM and particle size analyzer, we studied chemical structure, particle size and the particle size distribution of the copolymer, respectively. Electrorheological (ER) fluids were then prepared by dispersing the copolyaniline particles in silicone oil for several solid volume tractions and their rheological properties under electric field were investigated.
