Abstract :
Conjugated polymers are photosensing materials with high quantum efficiency. Large area photosensors fabricated in the metalpolymer-metal configuration show high photosensitivity, 0.1–0.5 A/Watt in the visible and near UV; i.e., sensitivity comparable to that obtained from inorganic semiconductors. The processibility of these semiconducting polymers enables the fabrication of large area photosensors on substrates (either flexible or rigid) of desire shapes, hybridized or integrated with optical or electronic devices. In addition to single and/or integrated devices for energy conversion or photosensing applications, passive photodiode arrays and matrices were fabricated for large area, full-color, image sensing. These photodiode arrays have high photosensitivity, low dark current, and large dynamic range. Photodetection with desired spectral response or multi-band selection are also demonstrated.
