Pd-PANI : preparation and catalytic properties

PANI base was doped in PdCl2 aqueous solutions of low acidity containing predominantly electrically neutral [PdCl2H2O2] complexes. Under these conditions partial (80%) reduction of Pd2+ to Pd0 took place. Pd0 created in this way was present in the form of crystalline particles (XRD, SEM). Pd-PANI exhibited catalytic activity in the liquid phase 2-ethylanthraquinone hydrogenation. The rate and the selectivity of hydrogenation depended on the Pd0 amount in catalysts.
