Novel oxadiazole-containing conjugated polymers as efficient single-layer light-emitting diodes

A poly(phenylenevinylene) (PPV) containing oxadiazole units in both the main chain and as main chain substituents was synthesized. Single-layer LED (light-emitting diodes) devices fabricated with this polymer show external efficiencies of 0.15% with calcium as the cathode and 0.068% with alumina as the cathode. In addition, these devices show good stability under ambient operating conditions.
