Abstract
The behaviour of the Shubnikov–de Haas (SdH) and de Haas–van Alphen (dHvA) quantum oscillations is studied in the quasi-two-dimensional organic metal (ET)8[Hg4Cl12(C6H5Cl)2] at various magnetic field orientations. It is shown that the oscillatory data are in agreement with previous Fermi surface (FS) calculations. FS is composed of one-electron and one-hole cylinder with their axes perpendicular to the conducting plane. Their cross-section area corresponds to ∼11% of the first Brillouin zone area. In addition to the frequency associated to these orbits, the frequencies of quantum oscillations connected most probably with the magnetic breakdown effect were observed both for Shubnikov–de Haas and de Haas–van Alphen oscillations.
