Abstract
This paper reports the fabrication and the characterization of an optical waveguide from a 6FDA/MPDA polyimide in order to realize the interconnection of systems of communication. The emergence of such systems is conditioned by the performances that the material must present (with low optical losses) and its resistance to high temperatures (>300 °C).
sent the optical characterizations of monomode guiding structures in rib-waveguide configuration; propagation loss measurements are made by the “cut-back” method and at the wavelength of 1.3 and 1.55 μm in polarized light. In the best case, we obtain propagation losses of about 0.55 dB/cm for the TE mode at a wavelength of 1.3 μm.
