Abstract
Novel tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) analogues, ethylenedioxy[2,4-dioxo(1H,3H)pyrimido]tetrathia-fulvalene, or ethylenedioxy[2-amino-4-oxo(3H)pyrimido]tetrathiafulvalene were synthesized. The crystal structure of the tetrabutylammonium (TBA) salt of deprotonated anion molecule of ethylenedioxy[2,4-dioxo(1H,3H)pyrimido]-TTF revealed complementary intermolecular hydrogen bonds leading to a homo-intermolecular dimer as building unit. Betainic radicals were prepared by oxidation the novel TTF analogues either electrically or chemically. The electric conductivity, magnetic and optical properties of mesomeric betaines are described.
