Abstract :
The semi-empirical one-dimensional dynamic soil water and evapotranspiration model BOWET for horizontal locations not affected by groundwater is described. The submodels for potential and actual evapotranspiration, interception, melting of snow and water percolation are described in detail. BOWET does not consider soil aeration, surface runoff, hysteresis and macropore flow, capillary water rise is neglected. isons between simulated and measured soil water down to a depth of 90 cm for three years and at two locations in North Germany are presented and discussed.
