Wide bandgap semiconductors and their application to light emitting devices

Numerous applications, ranging from multicolor displays to high density data storage, have awaited the availability of such devices as bright light emitting diode (LED) devices and injection lasers at the short wavelength end of the visible spectrum. Recent developments have been made in this arena, especially with blue/green injection lasers.
