Misfit layer compounds

Inrecent years of the work on misfit layer compounds has been devoted to thier characterization and crystal structure determination. Many structural investigations have been made using electron diffraction and high resolution electron microscopy. Most misfit compounds were found to be metallic and highly anisotropic; for some, occurrence of superconductivity (at very low temperatures, Tc < 6K) has also been detected.
