Surface analysis by laser ionization

Recent developments have been made in the novel surface analysis technique, surface analysis by laser ionization, in the area of quantitative surface and material elemental analysis. A breakthrough made during 1995 used high intensity, high-order, nonresonant, multiphoton ionization to saturate photoionization of all elements involved and thus achieved uniform detection sensitivity.
