High pressure synthesis in inorganic systems

Synthesis in the gigapascal range has yielded many different kinds of new high-Tc cuprix oxide superconductors, a couple of cupric oxides comprising ‘spin ladders’, a novel class of quasi-one-dimensional quantum antiferromagnetic lattices on which spin and charge are expected to show fancy quantum mechanical dynamics, and crystalline polymers and amorphous phases derived from C60, among which extremely hard materials have been found.
