Abstract :
In poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) mixed with [6,6]-phenyl-C61-buytyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) bulk-heterojunction solar cells, organic small molecular pentacene was introduced as dopant in P3HT:PCBM active layer. The results suggest that the doping of pentacene can improve the short circuit current (Jsc) and power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the polymer solar cells. The cell with 0.4 wt.% pentacene exhibits an enhanced Jsc by 2.08 mA/cm2 and the highest PCE (2.36%), which is 20% higher than that of the cell without pentacene doping. The improved performance is mainly due to efficient dissociation of exciton in active layer caused by pentacene doping.
