Abstract :
Continuum models are beginning to include constitutive equations containing a physical size scale which make them more applicable to metals development. Prediction of the evolution of crystallographic texture and substructure is increasingly being supported by more detailed quantitative microscopy. This is required in order to identify and confirm the controlling physical mechanisms underlying model predictions of structure evolution. Simulations of nonequilibrium phase evolution and dislocation interactions are likewise providing more realistic and experimentally validated predictions.
