Ceramic-modified elastomers

The sol–gel technique for synthesizing ceramic-like phases is used in the in-situ generation of reinforcing particles in an elastomeric matrix. Methods for characterizing the resulting organic-inorganic composites include microscopy and small-angle neutron and x-ray scattering, and the properties of greatest importance are elastic moduli and ultimate properties, typically evaluated in a variety of deformations.
