Abstract :
Distyrylbenzofuro derivatives of furan are a new class of substances possessing interesting structure, characteristic for low molecular weight organic semiconductors. Inspired by the substance extraordinary structure and potential application in organic electronic we have synthesized (E,E)-diethyl 2,6-distyrylbenzofuro[5,6-b]furan-3,7-dicarboxylate (dSBFF) and conducted the electrochemical tests of its semiconducting properties. The specific features of band structure of the substance were determined by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Platinum electrode coated with dSBFF thin film has been studied in pristine and light iodine doped state. The specific features of space-charge capacitance dc-voltage offset allowed to estimate the thin film conduction and valence bands to be −4.04 and −6.01 eV with respect to vacuum level respectively.
