Abstract :
A new organic–inorganic hybrid material of formula (C6H13N3)2Pb3I10, was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction, infrared absorption and Raman spectroscopy scattering. The titled compound, abbreviated API PbI, crystallizes as an organic–inorganic one-dimensional (1D) structure built up from infinite PbI6 octahedra surrounded by organic cations. Such a structure may be regarded as quantum wires system in which the inorganic chains act as semiconductor wires and the organic cations act as insulator barriers. Room temperature IR and Raman spectra were recorded in the 400–4000 and 40–3200 cm−1 frequency range, respectively. Optical transmission measurements performed on thin films of API PbI revealed a strong peak at 3.2 eV associated with two larges bands at 4 and 4.35 eV. Photoluminescence measurements have shown three emission lines: two larges bands at 2.3 and 2 eV and a shoulder at 1.9 eV.
