Abstract
We report a novel method enabling targeted deposition of a conducting polymer based on bipolar electrochemistry. By this method, a spot pattern of poly(3-methylthiophene) was obtained without a template. The size of the spot was controlled by the dimensions of the driving electrodes used. The color of the spot was changed rapidly and reversibly by applying appropriate voltages. The bipolar electrochemistry-based method has a potential to produce various patterns of conducting polymers with electrochemical activity.
