Abstract :
The order-disorder transitions in tin modified zirconium titanatewere investigated using high temperature X-ray, dielectric constant, DSC and DTA. In the low concentration of Sn (x < 0.2) in Zr1 − xSnxTiO4, the superlattice reflection, dielectric anomalies, thermal anomalies and specific heat anomalies clarified that the successive order-disorder transition occurred around the temperatures of 1117 °C and of 1125 °C on cooling and on heating, respectively. Furthermore, the superlattice reflection intensity was proportional to the enthalpy, but inversely proportional to the cooling rate, c-axis lattice parameter, and Sn content (x). For the composition of Zr0.8Sn0.2TiO4, the order-disorder transition was completely inhibited.
