Optical studies of thin films of alkoxysubstituted oligo(phenylenevinylenes)

In this work, we study Langmuir films of a family of materials “in-between” the class of distyrylbenzenes and poly(p-phenylenevinylenes), the oligo(phenylenevinylenes), with varying conjugation lengths—from three-phenyl-ring to nine-phenyl-ring system—and different substitution on the terminal benzene rings. We report our investigations on the film-forming properties as well as their optical characterisations.
