Abstract
High calcium content peat was used for the preparation of activated carbons with CO2 activation. The influence of temperature on the porous characteristics of the activated carbons was investigated. Calcium compounds were found to intensify the pore widening at high temperatures. As a result, the micropore volumes and surface areas of the samples prepared at 850 °C were lower than those prepared at 650 and 750 °C. As the mesopores were destroyed at high temperature, the total pore volume decreased at 850 °C and was lower than at 750 °C.
