X-ray diffraction investigation of the thermoelastic strains in white cast iron

The temperature derivatives of the thermoelastic stresses have different signs in the two phases of white cast iron. We observed however that the slopes of the corresponding d(sin2ψ) curves vary with temperature in the same direction. This seems illogical but is confirmed by theoretical considerations based on the Eshelby model.
