Abstract
The effect of strain rate at 500 °C on structure and properties of AL30/30%SiC composites produced by liquid forging was investigated. Hot working results in reduction in size of silicon and intermetallics particles, formation of defects such as microcracks and micropores, size and shape of which depend on strain rate. Working conditions allowing a noticeable improvement in mechanical properties have been found.
