Abstract :
High quality NdBaCuO melt textured grains (maximum size 5 × 5 × 2 mm3) with Tc = 95.7 K (ΔTc < 0.6 K), Jc (0 T, 77 K) > 60 kA cm−2, Birr > 8 T have been prepared via an isothermal route. Effective stoichiometry control of Nd1+y,Ba2-y, Cu3Ox (Nd-123) has been achieved in the process by the use of an appropriate admixture, a suitable limited oxygen supply and a low processing temperature. Promising process conditions have been derived from an investigation of the stability field of Nd-123 in dependence on composition, temperature and oxygen partial pressure,
