The 〈100〉 dislocation in L12 ordered alloys

The core structure of a 〈100〉 dislocation in Ni3Al is studied within the framework of the generalized Peierls model. It is shown for a 45° dislocation that for specific energies of unstable stacking γ0≤2 J m−2 the dissociation a[100]⇒a/2[101]+a/2[101̄] will not occur and within a reasonable range of γ0 above 2 J m−2 never takes place completely.
