Abstract
Deep-rolling with subsequent annealing was performed on solution heat treated Ti–3Al–8V–6Cr–4Zr–4Mo to develop microstructural gradients in the notch root. Annealing treatments were varied to a wide extent to evaluate optimum conditions for excellent fatigue performance and outstanding fracture toughness of a component. Such a property combination cannot be achieved by non-gradient microstructures.
