Abstract :
Pseudoelastic TiNi alloy has been found to exhibit high wear resistance, which can be considerably enhanced when hard particles such as TiC are added to the alloy. The wear resistance of such a composite can be further improved by adding nano-TiN powder to its TiNi matrix. In this work, the mechanism responsible for the improvement in wear resistance by adding nano-TiN powder was investigated using experiment and finite element analysis approaches. The study was focused on effects of nano-TiN powder on properties of the matrix, the interfacial failure and the integrated wear behavior of the composite.
