Influence of the production conditions on the structure and the microstructure of metallic glasses studied by neutron scattering

The microscopic and atomic structures of some Ni- and Fe-based metallic glasses studied by applying wide and small angle neutron scattering techniques are described. The glasses have been produced by rapid quenching from melts in different thermodynamic states. A strong influence of the production conditions, particularly the thermodynamic state of the melt before quench, on the structure and on the microstructure is observed.
