Abstract
We use the Ising model in a transverse field (IMTF) to describe the properties of ferroelectric–antiferroelectric superlattices that might be fabricated from order–disorder materials, e.g. KH2PO4/(NH4)H2PO4. Relevant spatial average is calculated for possible comparison with experimental results. We find that the number of antiferroelectric layers play a crucial role in the phase transition properties of the superlattices. When the number of antiferroelectric layer is even, the superlattice exhibits antiferroelectric feature, otherwise the superlattice has both ferroelectric and antiferroelectric features.
