Abstract :
The mechanism is described by which the multiple pulsed enclosed demetallisation of a metallised laminated substrate occurs when using laser parameters which raise the aluminium temperature to between aluminiumʹs melting and boiling points. Enclosed laser processing is the alteration of a substrate surface sealed with a coating which is transparent to the incident laser beam. The sealed surface directly interacts with the laser radiation, becomes heated and is altered. Such a process was not fully investigated in the past. Both theoretical modelling and experiments have been carried out to understand the heating and solidification processes involved. Two distinct melting and melt-dispersion mechanisms have been proposed.
