Abstract :
The inelastic deformation of a bicrystal is explored using a rate-dependent crystal plasticity theory. The effects of grain boundaries (GBs) on the mechanical response of the bicrystal for uniaxial loading are investigated using the geometry and physical GB. The influence of the perpendicular and tilt GB on the stress strain response is studied for loading processes with homogeneous and inhomogeneous deformations. Interface strengthening effect can be considered by using the physical GB, which assumes that between two grains there exists a layer of material with different material properties compared with each component grain. The common experiment phenomenon double necking in the bicrystal and the block effect of GB on the slip strain can be simulated for the bicrystal with the perpendicular and tilt GB.
