Abstract
A novel photoelectric single crystal, mercury indium telluride (MIT), with dimensions of 15 mm in diameter and 175 mm in length has been successfully grown by using the vertical Bridgman method (VB). The density of the MIT crystal was measured to be 6.248 g/cm−3. The structural crystal quality was investigated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SXRD) experiments and shown to be a single phase and to have good quality. The optical properties were investigated by UV–NIR–IR analysis, which proved that the cut-off length is 1697 nm and the energy band-gap of MIT was authenticated to be 0.73 eV. The transmittance spectra from 2.5 to 25 μm showed high middle and far-infrared transmittance, which was determined to be 50–55%.
