Abstract
The crystallization behavior and microstructure of an iron–nickel based amorphous alloy (Fe40Ni38B18Mo4) was studied. The phase transformation temperatures were determined by DSC and electrical resistivity, and found to be approximately 693 and 798 K. The enthalpy change and activation energy was also calculated from DSC results. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was employed to determine the crystallization product at different temperatures, the precipitates were found to be the (Fe, Ni) and (FeNiMo)23B6 phases. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) studies of heat treated samples showed that nano-precipitates had formed in the amorphous matrix.
