Abstract
The effect of In on the martensitic transformation of Ni58Fe17.5Ga27.5 (at.%) magnetic shape memory alloy was investigated. With the addition of In, the 14 M martensite of Ni58Fe17.5Ga27.5 alloy firstly transformed to austenite in (Ni58Fe17.5Ga27.5)99In1.0 alloy, and then to a mixture of austenite and γ phase in (Ni58Fe17.5Ga27.5)98.5In1.5 alloy. The martensitic transformation temperatures decreased monotonically. A series of linear regressive equations were obtained to describe the relationship between the martensitic transformation temperatures and the In content in (Ni58Fe17.5Ga27.5)100−xInx alloys.
